Heritage Week 2008 takes place this year from the 24th of August to the 31st of August. Heritage Week celebrates the built, natural and cultural heritage locally, nationally and throughout Europe.
The success of the week is dependant on the participation by interested groups and individuals. Cork City Council would encourage such groups to get involved in Heritage Week 2008 and is delighted to support and promote Heritage Week 2008 by producing a leaflet and a webpage highlighting local events happening during Heritage Week this year.
Cork City Council would like to hear from individuals and organisations who would like to celebrate Heritage Week 2008 by organising an event or an activity relating to Heritage. Any aspect of heritage interest can form the basis for an event e.g. a lecture on Cork’s history, a demonstration of traditional boat making skills, a wildlife guided tour etc.
To be included in the Cork City Council Heritage Week leaflet and webpage for further information or advice on organising an event in Cork City during Heritage Week 2008 please contact Aoife at 021 4924086 or email heritage@corkcity.ie.
The closing date to be included in the Cork City Heritage Week 2008 promotional material is 25th July 2008 .
Heritage Week is co-coordinated nationally by the Heritage Council with support from the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government and it is part of European Heritage Days, a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union.
